maxgraft® granules



m maxgraft® granules are allograft bone substitute from human donor bone, processed by the Cells+Tissuebank Austria with a special cleaning process (Allotec® process) and available in cancellous and cortico-cancellous form. Due to its preserved natural bone structure and collagen content, it serves as a scaffold for natural bone regeneration and has the potential of complete remodeling into patients’ own bone.


Potential of complete remodeling into newly formed bone


The cancellous structure allows an optimal revascularization and supply of vital cells and therefore enables a rapid regeneration of vital bone tissue. By adding a compact and dense bone ratio to the cancellous granules (maxgraft® cortico-cancellous granules) a greater volume stability is given, which is useful in cases of for example off-contour augmentations. Depending on the defect size, maxgraft® granules will be stably incorporated within 3–4 months and enable therefore an earlier re-entry in comparison to other grafting materials.

maxgraft® granules are available as purely cancellous as well as cortico-cancellous granules. Whenever contained defects are supposed to be regenerated, the cancellous structure enables a fast bone formation and substitution by vital bone, whereas cortico-cancellous products provide more volume stability.

The porous structure of maxgraft allows optimal graft revascularization and ensures the supply with vital cells. The properties of maxgraft® granules encourage the migration of cells such as osteoblast and osteocytes into the surgical site. Therefore, a fast bony integration of maxgraft® granules is facilitated.

no rehydration needed

The cancellous bone structure and the porosity of maxgraft® granules allow a fast absorption of blood and a fast supply of the surgical site with vital cells. The lyophilization maintains a residual moisture level of < 10%. Therefore, a rehydration is not mandatory.

Guided Bone Regeneration
  • maxgraft® granules should be covered by a barrier membrane (e.g., Jason® membrane, permamen®) for GBR
  • This prevents resorption and ingrowth of soft tissue into the bone graft
  • Depending on the defect size, the graft will be stably incorporated within 3-4 months
  • Product will be degraded when not loaded after healing period
